stade’s rum
mellowed by the sea
Stade’s Rum is an homage to the distillery’s visionary founder, his quest for perfection and his boundless curiosity.
George Stade’s Vision
George Stade – distiller and genius inventor with many patents to his name – dreamed of making the world’s best rum.
His dream came to life in 1893, when he built a distillery at Spring Garden, a freshwater spring on Brighton Beach in Barbados. He designed and constructed the island’s first column still adding a new style of distillate alongside traditional pot still rums and greatly expanding the aromatic possibilities of Barbadian rum. This diversity created the broad and balanced flavour palette Barbados rums are still known for today — offering master blenders a rich spectrum of styles and expressions to work with, much like a painter’s palette of colours.
Long before local distilleries could sell rum under their own names, a bottle marked “Stade’s” was an insider’s seal of quality, trusted by island families who bottled their own labels using rum sourced from the Stade’s Rum Distillery. Today, Stade’s finally takes its rightful place in Barbadian rum culture with our own proprietary brand – a local treasure to be enjoyed by rum-lovers in Barbados and beyond.
The Stade’s Rum Core Range
Stade’s Beach Vat N°1 is an authentic Barbados white rum that offers the complexity of blended column and pot still rums with a long, smooth finish. We mellow this traditional Barbadian rum for several months in an old wooden vat just steps from the seashore. It’s perfect for mixing in a classic Mojito or a fruity Daiquiri and enjoying with friends.
Stade’s Bond N°8 is a silky smooth gold rum that combines column and pot still rums that have been tropically aged in ex-bourbon barrels in a cellar facing the sea. We add even older Barbados rum to the blend bringing extra depth and harmony to create an exceptionally smooth and delicious rum. Ideal for sipping to fully experience the complex bouquet of spice and tropical notes and long-lasting finish, or mixing into a delicious rum punch.

The Distiller’s Vault Collection
Each release from the Distiller’s Vault Collection is a standalone venture, crafted once and never repeated. These ultra limited bottlings are inspired by our incredible collection of rare antique stills and the vast trove of rum-making secrets sheltered in our Distiller’s Vault.
The Distiller’s Vault is a locked chamber deep inside the distillery, crammed with blueprints, mash bills, handwritten notes, experiment logs… all evidence of George Stade’s spirit of invention. Thanks to him and the generations of talents who followed in his footsteps, we have the keys to hundreds of historical recipes and forgotten techniques. With the Distiller’s Vault collection, we are translating these documents into liquid form – not as historical replicas, but boldly reimagined experiments for today’s connoisseurs and collectors of rare spirits.
Maverick Expressions
Named after the Vulcan triple-chamber still, the last original of its kind in the world and still in operation today at Stade’s Rum Distillery. This extraordinarily rare still was brought back to life in 2018 thanks to the help of Stade’s veteran distiller, Henderson “Digger” Skinner. He used a trick passed down through generations: when the still stalls, give it two taps with a pipe. Without Digger we might never know what the one-of-a-kind Vulcan can produce today!
Vulcan, Two Taps
A meeting of two Barbadian rum-making traditions. Fusion brings together fresh cane juice rum, made from cane crushed at Stade’s Rum Distillery’s own Harper Sugarcane Mill, and molasses rum crafted with molasses sourced from Port Vale, the last remaining sugar factory in Barbados.
Run through the Old Gregg pot still, which started its life at Stade’s Rum Distillery in the early 1900s, this rum is then aged to showcase a vibrant tension between grassy freshness and deep, rich character.
